New Light!

I got a new light for...well it was a really great deal. You can't even tell anything by this picture, but I'm just really excited so I wanted to post.

The Lake

A few weeks ago we went to visit some friends in Virginia, and got to stay at their parents' lake house. We had a great time and were so thankful for a refreshing little vacation. Abel wasn't too sure about his life jacket
but he loved these sweet shades from his grandpa.
We had alot of fun on the tube.
The family we visited had a wonderful pontoon boat so we could all go out on the water together, even the little ones!

Getting Close

Well, I've made some good progress. I can almost see the finish line but there's still a lot to do. Sonya, Abel and I are going to visit friends in VA this weekend, so the tiling (and I) will get a break.

Happy Birthday Curtis

Before Abel went to bed he wanted to give a shout-out for his Uncle Curtis's birthday.

This is a very exciting day.

It makes me laugh just thinking about it.

Getting Tired....

Ryan came over last night and helped james with the floors, they made some great progress. We hope to have all of the "whole" (non-cut) tiles finished soon.

And for all of you out there wondering how we are living without a kitchen, here it is. :-) The fridge, stove, washer and dryer are all parked in our living room. But thank goodness my favorite appliance, the DISHWASHER, is still in use (we are not tiling under it) :-)

Just Keep Working, Working, Working

James has done a great job working on the kitchen almost every night. We are making some good progress and are excited to see the finished product (one day) :-)

Progress!

Last night we got some great help from both Trent and Josh, so the laying of tile could finally begin. Overall, things went smoothly and they made some great progress.

Flooring: Days 1 & 2

On our long "holiday" weekend we decided to finally start a home renovation project we had been putting off for awhile - tileing our kitchen floor. James gave me this "gift" for Christmas, but we just hadn't found time to get started on it. So, on Thurs. after James got home from work and Abel went to sleep we started the demolition. We tore up the linoleum and the quarter round and started cleaning the plywood floor.

Flooring: Days 3 & 4

Days 3 and 4 of the flooring project consisted of laying the Dietra (orange stuff) underlayment down. This step went pretty smoothly with the help of our great friend Trent :-) The next step should be measuring and laying out where to begin laying the tiles.

10 months?!?

We can't believe that our little boy is now 10 months old! He has been changing so much lately and can now pull up, crawl and clap :-) We continue to praise Christ for a healthy, happy, handsome little boy. Hope you enjoy some recent pics. 4th of July watermelon, Abel LOVED it!

Beach Vacation!

Last week we went on vacation with the Johnson's to the Outer Banks. We all had a great time of fun and refreshment. We didn't keep James' nose to the grindstone the whole time. (although he was a champ carrying Abel on his back)
We went to see this fun lighthouse. James, Josh, and Silas even climbed to the top.
Abel had his first trip to the beach and he loved it!
He ate a little bit of sand, but that's to be expected right?
Then we went to the Wright Brothers Memorial and Abel got to try on this sweet NASA suit. Maybe we have a future astronaut on our hands??

Family Pics

On the Lake

Two weeks ago, James, Abel and I went to Lake Wheeler with James' parents to try out their new canoe. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time at the lake, and no one got wet! Abel however, didn't have as much fun, I guess sitting in a stroller a few hours just isn't that exciting.

New Teeth!

Abel got 2 teeth about two weeks ago. He is growing up too quickly for us :-) We continue to have great joy in our sweet boy and look forward to more "firsts" in the days and weeks to come (he is currently working on crawling!)
